Travel to East Arnhem Land
By Road
The Central Arnhem Road leaves the Stuart Highway 52 km south of Katherine. The first 30 km is sealed but from then on the road is corrugated, slippery with loose gravel and in some places heavy with bull dust.
There are two major river crossings; the Wilton River near Bulman Aboriginal community and the Goyder River, about 400 km from Nhulunbuy. It is advisable to check road conditions before traveling.
The last fuel stop on the track is The Outback Store (about 250km from Katherine) at the Mainoru River where you can camp or get cold drinks and supplies. There is no more fuel after this until you reach Nhulunbuy, so it will be necessary to carry jerry cans of fuel.

By Air
Jetstar, Qantas and Virgin Blue fly to and from Darwin & Cairns from most Australian cities and some international destinations.
Qantas (www.qantas.com.au) operates a daily service between Nhulunbuy (Gove) and Cairns, and Nhulunbuy and Darwin.
Air North (www.airnorth.com.au) operates a daily service between Nhulunbuy
and Darwin
(NB: Airnorth has baggage limits of 13 kg for checked baggage and 4 kg
for hand luggage).
An airport shuttle bus service operates between the airport and Nhulunbuy for all Qantas Link flights. (08) 8987 2872.
By Sea
If entering Nhulunbuy via Gove Harbor in a yacht or boat be sure to contact the Australian Customs Service for quarantine information on 08 8987 1744.

5 seater / 7 seater charters ranging from $320.00 each way to $420.00 total cost. These flights can be shared by visitors, but can carry only 400kg in total on the 7 seater plane and a total of 300kg on the 5 seater plane. These small aircrafts are very safe and the families fly in and out regularly to Gove and other surrounding lands.
